Introduction To Rotary Switches

Rotary switches are mainly installed on liquid and gas pipelines to adjust the flow and pressure of liquids and gases. When in use, turning the handle drives the adjusting nut to rotate, and the left-hand thread connects to the left-hand thread of the valve, driving the valve to move right or left to change the cross-sectional area of ​​the right hole in the valve body cavity, thereby adjusting the flow and pressure of liquid and gas in the upper outlet pipeline.

A rotary switch is a switch that controls the on and off of the main contacts by rotating the handle. There are also two structural forms of rotary switches, namely single-pole unit structure and multi-pole multi-position structure. Single-pole unit rotary switches are often used together with shaft potentiometers in applications, while multi-pole multi-position rotary switches are mostly used to switch working status circuits.

Rotary switches can be used to replace the rotary pulse generator of the traditional resistive potentiometer analog function, and the main contact is controlled by the rotary handle. These rotary switches are usually used in the human-machine interface of the instrument front panel and the audio-visual control board. The rotary switch uses an orthogonal optical encoder as a pure digital device to replace the analog potentiometer. These rotary switches are similar to traditional or resistive potentiometers in appearance, but the internal structure of these rotary switches is completely digital and uses optical technology. Similar to traditional incremental encoder products, there are two orthogonal output signals (channel A and channel B), which can be directly connected to the encoder processing chip.
